When you’re rooting, flashing custom ROMs, and do much more things and experiments in your Android system, there are a lot of things that can go wrong in all this process. So, to prevent your Android device from any type of damage and error occur in flashing custom ROMs and any other thing always we create a backup of your android device. So always Before you start, you should know how to backup and restore your phone with the help of TWRP recovery environment. So, we learn how to create a backup of your android device by TWRP custom recovery.
If you are here you have probably already know how to Install a custom recovery on your Android device. If you don’t know about this then read this first and then you will be able to create a backup of your Android device by using TWRP custom recovery.
Some basic knowledge about TWRP custom recovery
TWRP always makes “nandroid” backups which are near the complete image of your system. Always use a nandroid backup to restore your phone instead of using them to restore individual files or apps. Because nandroid backup restores your phone to exactly the state it was in you backed up: the version of Android, your wallpaper, home screen, right down to which text message you had left unread on your device when you create the backup of your android device.
That means If you used TWRP custom recovery on your Android device to create a backup then It will restore the entire system.
So, now let’s start to create a backup of your android device by TWRP custom recovery. To make a backup follow these given steps.
Step 1: – First of all power off your android device and then go to the TWRP custom recovery mode by pressing your specific keys on your phone. If you don’t know your keys to go into recovery mode simply Google it along with your model number. then go into the recovery mode.
Step 2: – After going into the custom recovery mode, you saw a screen, in this tap on the backup option to create a backup of your android device. as the figure is shown below
Step 3: – After that, the following screen will appear. Now simply tap on the “Name” bar which is given at the top to give the back up a recognizable name as you wish. Then now after this process check the Boot, System, Data Boxes, and then swipe the bar which is given along the bottom to back up. As the figure is shown below
NOTE: – Backups are fairly large, so if you get an error about not having enough space, you may have to delete some things from your internal storage or SD card before continuing.
Step 4: – After creating a backup wait for few minutes because backup will take a few minutes to complete, so be patient. When it is finished, you can tap on “Back” option to go back to TWRP’s main menu, or “Reboot System” to reboot back into Android.
If TWRP asks if you want to root your phone, then choose “Do Not Install” option. because It is best to flash the latest version of SuperSU yourself rather than having TWRP do it for you. As the figure is shown below
Now your backup process will be completed now you should do anything on your Android device like flash a custom ROM without any problem.
